The project involves the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing improvements for a commercial space in Fontana, California, which includes a manufacturing plant with a warehouse, showroom, and office areas. The scope specifically covers the installation of HVAC systems (including fan coil units and condensing units), electrical power and lighting layouts, and a complete plumbing system featuring a high-efficiency tankless gas water heater.
Project Description
This project encompasses the comprehensive Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering design for the ZM Trucks industrial assembly facility in Fontana, California. The design is specifically engineered to support a high-tech automotive manufacturing environment, featuring specialized zones for vehicle maintenance, chassis assembly, and a “Wall Mounted Slow Charging Area” dedicated to electric truck infrastructure. The layout seamlessly integrates heavy industrial production capacities with professional office workstations and a commercial showroom.
The mechanical and electrical systems are built for high-performance reliability, headlined by a robust 1200A electrical service and a standby power generator to maintain assembly line continuity. Climate control is managed through a sophisticated HVAC network using wall-mounted fan coil units and air-cooled condensing units, ensuring optimal temperatures for both sensitive electronic components and personnel. Advanced ventilation systems were designed in strict accordance with the California Mechanical Code to facilitate air quality within the manufacturing plant and specialized battery containment zones.
The plumbing infrastructure supports both industrial and administrative needs, featuring a high-efficiency condensing tankless gas water heating system and a specialized waste network. The facility includes industrial-grade floor sinks and a precision-engineered compressed air system to power assembly tools throughout the manufacturing wing. Every aspect of the MEP design was developed to meet Title 24 energy efficiency standards, ensuring a sustainable and cost-effective operational footprint for ZM Trucks.
